The Texas Department of Public Safety has apparently had it with vandals who keep stealing road signs.

We are talking about signs for Bug Tussle, a town of just 15 people in Fannin County. Over the years, residents say more than 70 Bug Tussle signs have been stolen for souvenirs because of the town’s odd name. The Department of Transportation has stopped replacing the signs.

Bug Tussle was established in the 1890s, but the story behind the name is widely debated. There are also Bug Tussles in Oklahoma and Kentucky.

After this story ran on KHOU Morning News, it got anchor Jacob Rascon thinking. People may not have ever heard of Bug Tussle, Texas. Are there other towns people may not know about? Here are a few.

There’s Ding Dong, Texas, with a bustling population of 25 people near Killeen. You probably know Cut n Shoot, Texas. That’s in the Houston area and has a population of 1,200. If you’ve ever driven along Highway 176 in West Texas, you may have come across Tarzan, Texas, and its 30 residents. Bigfoot, Texas, is southwest of San Antonio and has a population of 450. And then there’s Cool, Texas, which is west of Fort Worth and has a population of 200.
