EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — One of El Paso’s longest-running community traditions returns this spring.

The 48th annual Mimbela Family Northeaster Parade is set to take place Saturday, April 4.

The parade, scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. at the intersection of Hercules and Diana, continues a tradition that dates back to 1978, when the Northeaster Parade was first established. Over the decades, it has grown into one of the city’s largest and most anticipated springtime events, drawing thousands of spectators each year.

Organizers say the event has become a cornerstone of community pride in Northeast El Paso, celebrating local schools, youth programs, and civic involvement. Attendance has reached as many as 15,000 people annually, reflecting its steady growth and lasting popularity.

The parade is now hosted by the NEBA Foundation for the second consecutive year, with continued support from title sponsor Mimbela Contractors, whose backing since 2012 has helped expand the event’s reach.

This year’s theme, “America 250,” highlights a patriotic spirit as the nation approaches its 250th anniversary. The 2026 parade will feature a wide range of participants, including school bands, cheer and dance teams, youth sports organizations, folklórico groups, Scouts, and local businesses.

Last year’s parade marked a record milestone with 120 entries, including groups from schools such as Andress, Chapin, Irvin, Austin, Harmony, IDEA, and the Bel Air Pipe Band, as well as appearances by local officials.

Serving as this year’s Grand Marshal is Stephanie Han, the current WBA Lightweight Champion and a graduate of Irvin High School and UTEP.

Organizers say the event continues to reflect the spirit of service and unity that has defined the parade for nearly five decades.

Community members are invited to attend and celebrate what has become a hallmark of Northeast El Paso culture.
