HOUSTON – No. 16 Baylor soccer (11-3-3, 6-3-1 Big 12) battled to a 1-1 draw at Houston (7-6-7, 2-4-5 Big 12) on Sunday night in Space City in the penultimate contest of the regular season.

Both teams opened with strong defensive play, holding each other scoreless through the first 45 minutes. Baylor and Houston each recorded two shots in the half, with Azul Alvarez making a key stop on the Cougars’ lone attempt on goal. The Bears also generated three corner kicks but couldn’t convert before halftime.

Baylor broke through early in the second half when Callie Conrad netted her fourth goal of the season to give the Bears a 1-0 lead. Theresa McCullough and Tyler Isgrig were credited with the assists on the play.

Houston answered five minutes later, when Cameryn Maddox slipped a right-footed shot past Hallie Augustyn and Alvarez to even the match.

The Bears finished with six shots, including two on goal, while holding Houston to one shot on frame. Baylor earned eight corner kicks on the night, converting one into the opening goal, and limited the Cougars to four.
