SAN ANTONIO – Authorities have confirmed that during Friday’s heavy downpour across the I-35 corridor, a tornado made touchdown.

On Sunday, the National Weather Service confirmed that a tornado passed through Kendall and Comal counties, as storms rolled through central Texas.

We recently conducted a storm survey and concluded that an EF-1 tornado occurred on the night of October 24, touching down near Kendalia and tracking east along FM 306, impacting neighborhoods just north of Canyon Lake, said the National Weather Service.

The team of officials concluded that the EF-1 tornado touched down in eastern Kendall County, west of F.M. 3351, or about four miles southwest of Kendalia.

The tornado moved east through rural Kendall County, producing sporadic tree damage with winds estimated at 65-80 miles per hour, before moving east into Comal County.

Officials say it then crossed the intersection of U.S. 281 and F.M. 306. Five electrical poles and one light pole were brought down near a gas station at this intersection, with peak wind speeds estimated up to 110 mph.

Several neighborhoods were impacted, with damage to trees and roof shingles, as well as some power lines.

Farther east, the tornado crossed F.M. 306 near Hancock Road and would dissipate shortly thereafter.
