Houston police are hunting for a black Tahoe after a fatal crash on West Little York.

HOUSTON — A woman is dead and another is hospitalized after a hit-and-run crash Friday night in Houston, according to police.

The incident happened at approximately 8:30 p.m. at West Little York and De Priest. Two women were struck by what appeared to be a black Chevrolet Tahoe from the early 2010s or 2009. The driver fled eastbound on West Little York after the collision.

One of the victims, a woman approximately 50 years old, died at the scene. The second victim was transported to a nearby hospital, where she is being treated for her injuries. Her condition was not released.

Houston Police Department Sgt. Sudduth said investigators believe a female was behind the wheel of the suspect vehicle.

“From the appearance, it appears that we had a female crossing the road,” Sudduth said.

“We’re not sure which direction she was going at this time, but while crossing the road, she was struck by a vehicle. Another female was also struck by the same vehicle.”

Sudduth said the suspect did not stop after the collision.

“The vehicle that hit her appeared to be a black Chevrolet Tahoe, probably early 2010s or late 2009, that era, and they took off going eastbound on West Little York. We believe at this time it was a female driver.”

Police are searching for the suspect vehicle. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Houston Police Department.
