LUBBOCK, Texas — A deadly structure fire in the 5300 block of N CR 1700 claimed one life, according to the Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office.

The Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office received a call at 8:22 a.m. regarding the fire. Deputies were the first to arrive at the scene, where they found a one-story house fully engulfed in flames. Ammunition stored inside the home was igniting, preventing immediate entry. Multiple fire departments, including Shallowater, Wolfforth, Ransom Canyon, Abernathey, Idalou, and New Deal, responded alongside officers from the Department of Public Safety. Firefighters managed to control the blaze and enter the home, where they discovered one deceased individual.

The Fire Marshall’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire, while the Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office, in conjunction with the Lubbock County Medical Examiner, is reviewing the cause of death. The identity of the deceased has not been released, stated the Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office.
