If there was ever a time to not do something, now is that time. A gaming website called ACE.com has released a new poll identifying which fast-food chains Texas men think are “perfect places to propose.” Regardless of what this article says next, do not propose to your significant other in a fast-food chain, unless you’re prepared for a lifetime of embarrassment.

The poll from ACE.com surveyed 3,020 men to find out “which fast food chains they believe give them the best odds of hearing ‘yes’,” the site shared in a news release. Sure you may think a candlelit dinner or a mountaintop destination is the way to go, but apparently more than a few Texas men think your local, greasy, french fry-covered, drive-thru heavy, oversalted fast-food go to is the place to say “I do.” As for which fast-food chain took the No. 1 spot? Texans picked Chick-fil-A.

With over 3,400 restaurants across the country, Texas is Chick-fil-A’s No. 1 state with 518 restaurants scattered across the Lone Star State. In other words, Texas makes up 15% of Chick-fil-A’s entire inventory. So, maybe the men in ACE’s poll don’t exactly love Chick-fil-A, but they know they have access to one more so than say…Dairy Queen.

“If love is a numbers game, Chick-fil-A looks like the safest bet,” ACE.com writes in the release. “Known for its relentlessly polite service and calm, family-friendly atmosphere, it offers a setting where nerves don’t spiral and moments don’t feel rushed. There’s something disarming about it – almost as if the pressure drops the moment you sit down. For many Texas men, it feels like the place where the odds quietly tilt in their favor without trying too hard.”

The other fast-food chains on the list are as follows: Pizza Hut (No. 2), Taco Bell (No. 3), Dairy Queen (No. 4), McDonald’s (No. 5), Burger King (No. 6), Wendy’s (No. 7), Sonic (No. 8), Popeyes (No. 9) and Subway (No. 10). Yes, if you’re paying attention, that means Whataburger has once again been subbed from a major ranking.

But ACE also includes another important fact. What women think.

ACE asked 100 women how they would feel being proposed to at a fast-food chain. Now, it should be a deal breaker, but that’s nt what ACE found.

The women surveyed said 49% found it funny but memorable, 24% found it romantic, 22% found it completely unromantic and 4% called it desperate. Additionally, 44% say they wouldn’t feel embarrassed by the moment, 34% said they would feel slightly embarrased, while 21% said they would feel very or extremely embarrassed. Take those responses with a grain of salt.

“Proposals have always felt like high-stakes moments, but what we’re seeing here is that people are rethinking what really matters,” ACE.com writes in the release. “It’s less about spending big and more about choosing a setting where both people feel comfortable. In many cases, that actually improves the odds. A relaxed environment can take the pressure off and make the moment feel more genuine – something that ultimately gives you a better chance of hearing ‘yes.'”
