The Legacy boys track and field team won its fifth meet in five tries during the Lubbock ISD Invitational, Friday and Saturday at Lubbock’s Lowrey Field.

The Rebels (124 points) beat second-place Midland High (93) and third-place Odessa Permian (91) in the Division I portion of the meet in their final tune-up before district.

The LHS boys got individual wins from Dylan Walters in the shot put (50 feet, 8 inches), Nic Moore in the long jump (23-0), Jaime Arreola in the 1,600 meters (4 minutes, 26.28 seconds) and Kameron Norman in the triple jump (41-6.50).

The Rebels also got a first-place finish from their 800 relay of Derrion Thomas, Josiah Frye, Moore and Caden Ellis (1:26.99).

The Bulldog boys received wins from Chris Bowers in the 200 meters (22.46), Isaac Lujan in the high jump (6-4) and Cage Peugh in the pole vault (14-6).

Legacy (96) placed third behind Permian (133) and runner-up Lubbock High (116) in the girls team standings.

Legacy’s Madison Gonzales won the girls shot put (41-2.25) and the Lady Rebels 400 relay of Alex Hopkins, Chelsea Fagan, Esther Adetmehin and Faith Helmke finished first (47.44).

The Midland High girls received wins from Natalie Tillis in the 400 (1:00.58) and Sloane Smith in the pole vault (9-0).

Freshman sensation Andree Baer highlighted the Greenwood girls in the Division II portion of the meet by winning the high jump (5-4) and the 100 hurdles (15.73).

Greenwood senior Dylan Payton won the boys 300 hurdles (38.26) in the Division II meet.

Greenwood (87) finished fourth behind winner Canyon (175) in the Division II boys standings, while the Rangerettes were third (113) behind champion Amarillo West Plains (131) in the girls standings.

LHS and MHS head to the District 2-6A track meet, Wednesday and Thursday at San Angelo Stadium.

Greenwood will compete in the Wall Relays on Thursday.
