Former NFL running back Adrian Peterson was reportedly arrested over the weekend in the Houston area.
According to Chron.com and KHOU 11, Peterson is facing charges of DWI and unlawful possession of a weapon after a Sunday morning arrest in Sugar Land. A spokesperson for the Fort Bend Sheriff’s Office told Chron.com’s Michael Shapiro that Peterson would spend Sunday night in jail and would meet with a judge Monday morning.
Peterson has faced legal issues in the past. Back in April, he was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving in Minnesota after appearing at an NFL draft party.
The former Oklahoma standout was well-known as one of the NFL’s top rushers throughout his professional career. Peterson currently ranks fifth on the league’s list of all-time rushing leaders with 14,918 yards on the ground.
