Another month, another wave of shake-ups at TV stations across San Antonio and Texas. In March, TV personalities made headlines for jumping from city to city — but San Antonio also learned of layoffs and the arrest of one meteorologist. Here’s what you may have missed.Â

“We have made staffing adjustments as part of an ongoing review of our business and operational needs,” a spokesperson for the station wrote in a statement to MySA. “These actions impacted a limited number of positions and were not related to individual performance. We remain committed to supporting our employees through this transition and continuing to serve our community with high-quality local journalism.”

“Well, 6 years, countless memories and hundreds of stories later, you will no longer see me on CBS News Texas,” Nielson wrote on Instagram. “A lot has changed in my life in the past year, and it is time for a new adventure. Thank you DFW for allowing me inside your homes and for trusting me with your stories. It was the honor of a lifetime, and I leave this job extremely proud. Onto the next chapter.”
Her next move was to join KPRC 2 in Houston, she announced on Instagram on March 19.
Reporter Madison Myers joins KXAN in Austin
Meanwhile, a new reporter settled in at Austin station KXAN. Madison Myers, a Dallas native, joined the NBC affiliate in February after two years at KXXV in Waco. She told MySA in early March that the move to Austin has been “a breath of fresh air.”

Myers covers Hays County, the growing I-35 corridor and cities like Buda, Kyle and San Marcos. She said, “I am loving the station. I am loving Austin. The people here are great. The community is great. And again … there’s so many good stories to tell here, and so it’s kind of the perfect location, I feel like, for journalism.”
Meteorologist Elliot Wilson out at KSAT 12 after arrest, assault charge
Meteorologist Elliot Wilson was charged with Class A misdemeanor assault causing bodily injury to a family member on March 13, according to court records. Days later, a spokesperson for KSAT 12 confirmed with MySA that Wilson — who joined the weather team in December 2025 — is “no longer an employee” of the station.Â
The 32-year-old Indianapolis native was arrested on March 12 “following an investigation into a domestic assault that left a victim with a broken nose,” a deputy with the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office told MySA in an email. At the time of publication, Wilson has a court appearance set for April 29.

KIII adds meteorologist Kellianne Klass in Corpus Christi
Corpus Christi weather desks have seen a massive front of changes in recent months, including new chief meteorologists and sudden exits. Another one came on March 16 as Kellianne Klass officially joined KIII. Klass came to the station after five years at WESH 2 in Orlando, Florida, where she covered all types of severe weather from tornadoes and record-breaking cold to wildfires and hurricanes. However, it wasn’t her first time in the Lone Star State, as Klass previously worked at KLNK and KAMC in Lubbock.
“I’m excited to bring my expertise to the KIII weather team, and help get your day started,” Klass said in a release. “Having covered some of the most powerful storms in recent years, I understand how critical timely, accurate information is, and I’m dedicated to bringing that to the community every day.”
Former KSAT 12 anchor Mark Austin makes career switch
San Antonio viewers said goodbye to longtime KSAT 12 anchor Mark Austin back in 2024. However, he’s been active on his social media page, Post Oak Pits & Poles, ever since and recently shared a major new career pivot. This time, he’s back on the air — “or should I say, in the air?” Austin joked on Instagram.

“I have done something completely crazy, and I am now a flight attendant for Delta Airlines,” he said in a March 17 video. “Can you believe it? I still don’t know what I’m doing, but it’s a lot of fun and today, I’m talking to you from St. Thomas in the Virgin Islands. We head back to Atlanta today.”
Nelly Carreno jumps to CBS News Texas from Univision
CBS News Texas had a bit of a revolving door this month as former Univision 23 KUVN chief meteorologist Nelly Carreno made her debut on March 23. The jump was from one Dallas-based TV station to another, and Carreno said on Instagram that she’ll still be able to do some things in Spanish, “which is very important to me.”

According to her post, Carreno will bring viewers the 11 a.m. weather and will eventually add the 4 p.m. weekday forecast. Additionally, she’ll give weather updates on CBS News Texas’ digital and streaming platforms, “where during severe weather we’ll provide continuous coverage to help keep our community informed and safe.”
“I’m really excited to be joining a six-meteorologist team, led by chief Meteorologist McKenna King,” Carreno wrote. “Thank you for your support… and I hope you’ll join me in this new adventure.”
