LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Lubbock Police have now released details about a motorcycle crash that happened on Thursday afternoon.
LPD says they responded to a crash involving a single motorcycle just after 12:30 p.m. in the 4000 block of 19th Street.
The rider, now identified as 19-year-old Austin Reel, was seriously injured in the wreck and was taken to UMC by ambulance, where he was pronounced dead.
LPD says, “Reel was traveling west in the 4000 block of 19th Street. As Reel was entering the on ramp from 19th Street to the westbound main lanes of Marsha Sharp Freeway (flyover), the motorcycle struck a raised median and a guardrail. Reel was thrown from the motorcycle in the collision.”
Marsha Sharp Freeway is back open to normal traffic as of 8 p.m.
