The TCU Horned Frogs outlasted Texas Tech 10–9 in a 13-inning thriller, sealing the win on a walk-off sacrifice fly.
It looked like TCU had missed its chance in the 12th after loading the bases with no outs and coming up empty. Nolan Traeger flew out to shallow center, and both Jack Bell and Jack Arthur followed with strikeouts to end the threat.
They didn’t miss the next one.
Sawyer Strosnider tied the game with a clutch double that scored Cole Cramer, setting the stage for Chase Brunson’s walk-off sacrifice fly to win the game.
Cramer lead the offense going 3 for 6 with two RBIs and his second straight game with a home run. Jack Bell added three hits of his own and drove in a run.
It was an up-and-down night for the Frogs. They fell behind 3–0 early before responding immediately with a four-run inning, powered by a pair of two-run homers from Cramer and Preston Gamster. Later, solo shots from Noah Franco and Bell helped TCU build an 8–6 lead heading into the ninth. As a team, the Horned Frogs launched five home runs.
But the lead didn’t hold.
Walter Quinn ran into trouble in the ninth, allowing a ground-rule RBI double to Matt Quintanar before Jesse Rusinek followed with a game-tying single.
On the mound, Lance Davis got the start but didn’t last long, giving up five runs (four earned) on seven hits in 2.2 innings. Tanner Sagouspe steadied things in relief, tossing 3.1 scoreless innings while allowing four hits, striking out three, and issuing no walks.
Quinn, however, wasn’t as sharp down the stretch with a final line of 3 runs on 6 hits with 1 walk and 3 strikeouts in 3 innings. Trever Baumler picked up the slack and the win with 4 innings of 1 run ball on six hits with 2 walks and 4 strikeouts.
The Horned Frogs will look to complete the sweep against the Red Raiders March 29 at 1 p.m.
