A woman who was driving a sport utility vehicle on an interstate in north Fort Worth died early Monday in a crash in which an infant and toddler were injured, police said.

The driver swerved into a grass median in the northbound lanes of Interstate 35W, continued through the grass to the bridge at Westport Parkway and drove over the wall onto the road below, Fort Worth police said.

The SUV crashed about 12:30 a.m. into a wall on the opposite side of the road, police said.

The driver, whose name and age the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office has not released, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The children were alive when they were taken to a hospital. Police did not describe their injuries or condition.

The Traffic Investigation Unit is looking into the circumstances of the crash.
