LA PRYOR, Texas – A 20-year-old man was arrested Sunday after deputies discovered marijuana and a loaded firearm during a traffic stop in La Pryor, Texas, according to the Zavala County Sheriff’s Office.
The stop happened around 3:26 p.m. at a Valero gas station when Deputy J. Ibarra pulled over a silver Nissan Altima.
During the investigation, the deputy reported smelling a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. A search of the car and its occupants led to the discovery of about 4.2 ounces of marijuana, packaged in multiple plastic bags, and a loaded firearm with a round chambered.
Authorities identified the suspect as Kamrein Daevon Mcclay, who was a passenger in the vehicle.
Mcclay was taken into custody and transported to the Zavala County Jail. He faces charges of possession of marijuana and unlawful carrying of a weapon.
