Fancy yourself a bit of a green thumb? Whether you’re a proud plant owner, honorary horticulturalist, or are just in the neighborhood for a ficus, the mother of all plant conventions is coming to Houston this April with its largest show yet.
Founded by President, Kenny Nguyen, PlantCon first began during the pandemic as a way for local community members to stay connected. In 2022, the movement grew to the point of opening the Houston Plant Market, that which continues to offer a centralized hub for the community. In 2023, organizers launched this first official PlantCon.

“Houston isn’t just another stop. It’s where PlantCon began,” said Nguyen. “This city supported us when we were just a few tables in a parking lot. Returning to NRG is a way to honor that original community, while making room for everyone who has joined our family along the way”.
Today, PlantCon is “the largest plant hobbyist convention in the nation“. Upgrading from its past digs in the hall of NRG Center, the weekend of April 25 – April 26, 2026 will be its largest show yet; here the immersive expo will transform NRG Arena into a micro rainforest with over 300 plant-focused booths offering everything from exotic plants to beginner-friendly goods.
“PlantCon is a community-driven celebration of plants, people, and culture. PlantCon connects thousands of plant lovers, hundreds of small businesses, and creators in an inclusive space built to inspire and grow together. Bring your friends and family!”

Toward its effort of fostering education and community connection, PlantCon will also host a variety of expert-led presentations and workshops on practical plant knowledge and practice.
