Comal ISD’s Hill Country College Prep High School has been placed on lockdown, according to the district.
A statement on the Comal ISD website reads: “Lockdown is still active at Hill Country College Prep High School. Local law enforcement is on campus. Building is secure, and threat has been contained. Update – Principal Wiley”
The exact reason for the lockdown has not been announced, but local TV reports indicate it may be the result of a shooting near the high school.
The Comal County Sheriff’s Office posted the following message to Facebook:
The Comal County Sheriff’s Office is currently responding to reports of a shooting this morning near a high school in the Bulverde area.
Deputies were dispatched to Mustang Vista near Hill Country College Preparatory High School following reports of gunfire.
At this time:
• One individual who suffered a gunshot wound has been transported to a hospital
• It is not yet confirmed whether a suspect is in custody
• Law enforcement is actively working to secure the area
