Chick-fil-A Supply is bringing a new tri-temperature distribution center to Lubbock Business Park, where the project is expected to create about 80 jobs, spanning warehouse operations, logistics and transportation, according to a press release from the Lubbock Economic Development Alliance. Jobs created over the next decade are expected to pay an average annual wage of about $60,000.
Construction on the facility is expected to begin this May as part of the company’s growing supply chain network. The center will store and distribute food and related products in controlled environments—including refrigerated, frozen and dry—to a wide variety of restaurant locations.
Local leaders have embraced the company’s arrival and the economic development expected to come with it.
“We are excited to welcome Chick-fil-A Supply to Lubbock,” Mayor Mark McBrayer said in the release. “This investment will create long-term opportunities for families across our great community.”
John Osborne, president and CEO of the Lubbock Economic Development Alliance, said this kind of partnership will strengthen the city for years to come.
“We’re proud to help bring an industry-leading company like Chick-fil-A Supply to Lubbock in a way that benefits our entire community, drives new investment, creates new jobs, and further establishes Lubbock as a distribution and logistics hub,” Osborne said.
The new facility will be located near the Lubbock Preston Smith International Airport, a spot expected to support strategic transportation and logistics. The location will help Chick-fil-A strengthen its infrastructure to “meet increasing demand for its growing restaurant footprint,” according to the release.
Chick-fil-A Supply already operates two other distribution centers in Texas, according to the company website. Its Dallas-area center in Hutchins employs more than 220 team members, while the San Antonio-area center in Selma employs more than 120 team members.
The fast-food chain operates more than 450 restaurants across the Lone Star State, making Texas the state with the highest number of locations across the nation.
