HOUSTON – A 5-year-old child drowned in a neighbor’s pool after leaving home alone on Monday, the Harris County Sheriff’s Office says.

The drowning was reported in the 900 block of Nancy Rose Road, near Waxahachie Street, in east Harris County.

According to Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, the child reportedly left their house alone.

Deputies ended up finding the child unresponsive in a neighbor’s pool, officials say. The sheriff says the child did not survive.
