John Xavier Garcia was sentenced to life in prison for continuously abusing a young girl, with evidence highlighting manipulation until his arrest.

SAN ANTONIO — A man was sentenced Monday to life in prison without the possibility of parole for sexually abusing a young girl over a period of about two years, the Bexar County District Attorney’s Office said.

John Xavier Garcia was found guilty by a Bexar County jury in January 2026 for continuous sexual abuse of a child and was sentenced by Judge Kristina Escalona, in the 186th District Court.

According to documents, Garcia began sexually abusing the victim when she was about 9 years old and continued until she was 11, after she informed someone of the abuse. At trial, prosecutors showed various pieces of evidence including the victim’s testimony, extensive counseling records, and messages sent by Garcia that showed “ongoing manipulation up to the time of his arrest.”

Assistant District Attorneys Brittany Mitchell, Angela Payne, and Jazmin Padilla led the case, with help from victim advocate Marianna Arredondo and investigator Yvette Guerrero.

“This sentence reflects the seriousness of these crimes and the lasting impact they have on victims,” District Attorney Joe Gonzales said in a press release. “We commend the courage it takes to come forward, and our office remains committed to protecting children and holding offenders fully accountable.”
