The two teams will meet in Fort Worth, just a few hours from the Longhorns’ campus. Texas (34-3) and tied for second in the SEC, which had 10 squads make the NCAA Tournament. Michigan (28-6, 15-3) tied for second place in the Big Ten, one of 12 programs from the conference to make the tournament.Â
Rori Harmon, a Longhorns senior, seemed to be somewhat familiar with the team from Ann Arbor.
“I see a little bit of SEC in (Michigan),” Texas point guard Rori Harmon said Sunday. “A little bit of familiarity with a lot of teams that we play in the conference.”
Each won its Sweet 16 games convincingly to make the Elite Eight. Texas (34-4) dominated Kentucky, 76-54, on Sunday. The Wolverines trounced Louisville, 71-52, just hours before Texas earned its win. The winner goes on to play UCLA on Friday.
