The Greater Austin Sports Foundation has named six boys and six girls as finalists for Scholarship Athletes of the Year honors in Central Texas.
The annual event will be April 29 at the Junior League of Austin, 5330 Bluffstone Lane.

Since 1980, the GASF recognizes individuals who are stars in their respective sports — and in the classroom. Also, the foundation will induct four new members to its Hall of Honor: pole vault coach Brian Elmore, volleyball official Gloria Cox, retired LBJ basketball coach Freddie Roland and world champion powerlifter Jan Todd.
Here are the six boys finalists for high school honors:
• Rowan Cox, Bowie swimming: Bound for Texas in the fall, he won a pair of gold medals at the UIL state swimming and diving championships in February.
• Caleb Crenshaw, Anderson football: The leading rusher for the Trojans last season with 2,207 yards, he will play college football this fall at Stephen F. Austin.

• Jack Devine: Regents football: A San Diego State pledge, the Knights junior fired 55 touchdowns and only three interceptions for a team that went 12-1 in the fall.
• Luke Hawley, Vandegrift soccer: The senior midfielder helped the Vipers win the Class 6A DII state championship last season with 15 goals and six assists and made the American-Statesman’s All-Central Texas Soccer Team.

• Bo Ogden, Westlake basketball: Another Texas signee, Ogden was the Statesman’s Central Texas boys player of the year after leading the Chaparrals to the Class 6A DII state finals with a 32-7 record.

• Cooper Webb, Lake Travis baseball: The Texas-bound pitcher led the Cavaliers to the Class 6A DI state semifinals last year, going 8-1 with a 0.79 ERA and 79 strikeouts.

The six girls finalists are:
• Eva Cragnolino, LASA cross-country: A two-time state gold medalist in cross-country, she will run this fall at the University of Washington.

• Lorelei Gamble, Dripping Springs softball: Already committed to Texas, the Tigers junior leads the nation with 20 homers while batting .606.

• Saania Khawaja, Vandegrift basketball: A junior, she averaged 19.2 points and 7.8 rebounds to help the Vipers go 29-7 record and 16-0 in District 25-6A.
• Mila Juarez, San Marcos wrestling: Also a junior, Juarez was the Statesman’s Central Texas girls wrestler of the year after winning state at 120 pounds in Class 6A and finishing with a 31-1 record.

• Rylee Michna, Taylor tennis: Already a three-time state champion in Class 4A, the Ducks senior is a heavy favorite to win another gold when the state meet convenes May 7-8 in San Antonio.
• Joy Udoye, Cedar Park volleyball: Bound for Stanford in the fall, she led the Timberwolves to the Class 5A DII state championship to earn Central Texas player of the year honors.
