Harris County’s commissioners acknowledged a resolution celebrating the rodeo, but stopped short of asking Judge Hidalgo to step down.
HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — Precinct 3 Commissioner Tom Ramsey failed to pass a motion calling for Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo to step down, following what he called “entitled behavior” at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.
“Judge Hidalgo’s entitled behavior has embarrassed this commissioners’ court,” Commissioner Ramsey said during his remarks.
Commissioners Lesley Briones and Rodney Ellis voted in favor of removing the line calling for Judge Hidalgo’s resignation and apology.
While both commissioners agreed to some level of accountability, Commissioner Briones said that it’s up to the people to decide if Judge Hidalgo should step down. When handling a matter like this, Commissioner Ellis made one suggestion.
“I’ve always found it better, call the person privately,” Commissioner Ellis said.
KHOU 11 reached out to Judge Hidalgo’s staff for comment and we are waiting to hear back. This is a developing story.
