ARLINGTON, Texas — As temperatures rise, so does the presence of door-to-door salespeople in Arlington neighborhoods, prompting reminders of city regulations.

Salespeople must obtain a city license and display it visibly while conducting door-to-door sales, according to a press release from the Arlington Police Department. Sales activities are restricted to between 9 a.m. and dusk unless previously invited by a resident. Additionally, salespeople are prohibited from approaching homes with a “No Soliciting” sign, which must be at least 12 square inches in size with lettering no smaller than two-thirds of an inch in height.

Violations of these rules can result in fines up to $500 and potential suspension or revocation of the salesperson’s license. Residents can report any infractions by contacting the Arlington Police Department’s non-emergency line at (817) 274-4444.

The department advises residents to remain cautious and make informed decisions when approached by salespeople. If uncomfortable, residents are encouraged not to engage and to verify the salesperson’s city license or identification. The police department emphasizes never allowing unknown salespeople into one’s home and to call 911 if a salesperson refuses to leave or becomes aggressive.

Residents are reminded to trust their instincts and seek assistance from law enforcement if needed.
