Dallas Trinity FC lost an opportunity to make up some ground in the Gainbridge Super League standings on Tuesday night.

Trinity suffered a 2-1 loss to Tampa Bay Sun FC on Tuesday at the Cotton Bowl. While captain Amber Brooks helped Trinity tie things up in the second half, Tampa Bay capitalized on an 85th-minute goal from Carlee Giammona.

Trinity dominated possession of the ball for much of the matchup, but Tampa Bay found a way to finish off its scoring opportunities. Sabrina McNeill gave Tampa Bay its first lead at the 29th minute as she sent a close-range shot past Trinity goalkeeper Tyler McCamey.

Trinity couldn’t find an equalizer before the final whistle blew. With the loss, Trinity remains in fourth in the Gainbridge Super League standings with 29 points. The third-place Carolina Ascent has a slight cushion above Trinity at third with 33 points.
