State-ranked Richland keeps dominating

Richland, ranked No. 5 in the Texas Girls Coaches Association Class 5A poll, picked up another win Tuesday with a 13-0 shutout of Denton. The Royals were led by Alyssa Flores, who tallied 3 hits, 3 RBIs and a walk.

Stacy Jennings posted 2 hits, 2 RBIs and a walk while also dominating in the circle, allowing three hits and zero earned runs. In total, five players posted two or more RBIs: Jennings, Flores, Sam Aguilar, Lauryn Gamez and Sofia Hernandez.

Richland moves to 25-2 on the season and 8-0 in district play.

Fort Worth Benbrook continues to thrive

Fort Worth Benbrook isn’t ranked but probably should be.

The Bobcats (15-11, 9-0) boast two wins over No. 17 Diamond Hill-Jarvis and have a perfect 9-0 record in District 8-4A play. On Tuesday, they continued the elite play, trouncing Western Hills 21-3. Offensively, Natalya Muzquiz led the way with 3 hits and 4 RBIs while allowing 3 earned runs as a pitcher.

Teammates Madison Canada, Kaylee Boswell and Esparanza Garza were also key contributors. Canada posted 2 hits and 4 RBIs, Boswell had 2 hits and 3 RBIs and Garza tallied 3 hits and 4 RBIs.

Byron Neslon keeps climbing

Byron Nelson, the highest ranked Fort Worth-area Class 6A squad at No. 6, continued a strong season with a 6-0 shutout of Euless Trinity Tuesday. Pitcher Meredith Hambric continued a standout season, allowing no earned runs, 6 hits, 2 walks with 4 strikeouts.

Offensively, Gabriella Cuellar led the way, tallying 3 hits and 2 RBIs. Byron Nelson (25-2-1) moves to 9-1 in District 4-6A play.
