It’s Holy Week, and Catholic leaders across the U.S. are reporting a sharp increase in adult converts. And it’s primarily with young adults.
“They’re very hungry for truth, they’re hungry for anything that feels real and authentic” said Angie Pometto, Director, Office of Young Adult & Campus Ministry with the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston, “They’ve experienced the culture and it’s left them kind of starving. And I think the same was true in the Gospels.”
The numbers are on the rise, even here in Houston.
“We are definitely seeing an increase here in our ministry, and our highest numbers are with students at the University of Houston, Rice University, and Sam Houston State University” Pometto told KTRH, “People who aren’t Catholic who are seeking the faith.”
All of this adds to the events of Holy Week.
“The message of this Holy Week is that Jesus is not afraid of the darkness, of the mess of our lives” noted Pometto, “However, He doesn’t want to leave us there.”
A great message ahead of Easter Sunday.
