The sophomore opposite hitter was named to the Women’s Under-19 National Team that will train July 9-16 at the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo. Twenty athletes were named to the team, including SMU pledge Brynn Stephens from Prosper Walnut Grove.

Floyd, a first-team All-Area selection and MaxPreps sophomore All-American, had a team-high 380 kills to go with 211 digs, 72 blocks and 62 aces for 5A Division I state champion Highland Park despite missing all of September and the first part of October with a lower-body injury. Floyd was named the MVP of the state final after she had a match-high 14 kills in a three-set win over A&M Consolidated, and Highland Park finished No. 13 in the MaxPreps national rankings.

Stephens, one of the premier volleyball players in the state, was denied varsity eligibility by the University Interscholastic League’s state executive committee last season after being ruled to have transferred for athletic purposes from Prosper Rock Hill. Stephens, a 6-3 outside hitter, was rated the ninth-best player in the nation in the Class of 2027 at the time.

The U.S. team will compete at the NORCECA Women’s U19 Continental Championship, held July 17-25 in San José, Costa Rica. Fourteen of the 20 athletes will be chosen for the competition roster for that event, and select U19 and U21 athletes will also compete internationally at the NORCECA U23 Women’s Pan American Cup due to the event’s direct overlap with the NCAA season.

Also, USA Basketball announced that Plano East basketball phenom Arianna Robinson will be among 42 athletes who will participate in the USA Basketball Women’s Junior National Team minicamp. The fourth annual event will take place Thursday through Sunday in conjunction with the NCAA Women’s Final Four.

In addition to on-court drills and scrimmages, athletes will participate in a series of educational presentations and attend the semifinal games Friday night.

Robinson was The Dallas Morning News’ All-Area Player of the Year as a freshman in the 2024-25 season after leading Plano East to the state semifinals for the first time. Robinson, a 5-10 combo guard, averaged 20.3 points, 7.4 rebounds and 3.1 steals and was an all-state selection.

This past season she earned first-team All-Area recognition after leading the Dallas area in scoring at 26.4 points per game. The four-star sophomore, who is the No. 1 recruit in Texas and is rated the 12th-best player in the nation in the Class of 2028 by espnW, was named all-state and the District 6-6A MVP.
