Drivers across Corpus Christi are being urged to use caution after multiple traffic signals began malfunctioning Wednesday, leaving several intersections flashing red or completely dark.

According to the City’s Public Works Department, crews are actively working to identify the cause of the issue and restore normal signal operations as quickly as possible.

City officials say the outages are impacting intersections across the area. An internal map shared among staff shows numerous locations affected, marked by blue dots indicating signals currently flashing red.

The issue has prompted a coordinated response involving Public Works, Information Technology teams, and two traffic signal consulting groups.

What Drivers Should Do

Officials are reminding motorists that any intersection with a flashing red light — or no signal at all — should be treated as a four-way stop.

Drivers should:

Yield to other vehicles as required

Proceed only when it is safe

Ongoing Response

City crews say they are working diligently to diagnose the root cause of the widespread signal disruptions. No official timeline has been given yet for when all intersections will be fully restored.

Motorists are encouraged to remain alert, reduce speeds, and plan for potential delays while repairs are underway.
