Tejas Park, a park in Plano’s Cross Creek East neighborhood, is set to get a $2.3 million makeover.

Renovations will update existing equipment as well as adding new features like disc golf baskets and fitness stations.

Money for the project was previously set aside in the city’s 2025-2026 Park Improvement budget, according to city documents. Plano City Council approved the contract at a March 23 meeting.

Tejas Park currently has a single playground for children ages 2–12. The renovations will expand the play area and divide it into two separate playgrounds, one for children ages 2–5 and one for children ages 5–12.

Construction will also improve lighting, add irrigation and ensure that the park meets accessibility requirements, per a report by city staff.

While city officials haven’t specified a timeline for the renovations, city documents say that using sod instead of alternatives like hydromulch will allow the park to reopen to the public faster than previously expected.
