One of the best players in the 2028 class might have his eyes on Texas. Four-star running back recruit Micah Rhodes has decommitted from Red River rival Oklahoma and has already visited the Longhorns campus two times.
According to Sam Spiegelman of Rivals, Rhodes has logged two visits to the Forty Acres over the past two weeks, calling his last trip “the best” visit yet.

Rhodes committed to the Sooners in January. OU beat out both Texas and Texas A&M. The Klein Oak High School star was heavily influenced by former Sooners running back Demarco Murray. Murray, the OU running backs coach last season, was the primary recruiter of Rhodes.
But since Rhodes’ commitment, Murray has left Norman to become the RB coach for the Kansas City Chiefs.
“To be honest with you, I don’t know, man,” Rhodes told OU Insider about Murray’s departure. “It’s a lot of emotion going on right now. I’m happy for Coach, stepping his career up and going to do something that’ll help his career and help his family out and stuff like that. So I’m happy for him, but I obviously don’t know what to do… Me and my dad, we were talking about it. We’re talking to our agents, trying to get some closure on what’s going on right now and trying to get some ideas on what to do. But to be honest with you, we don’t know yet.”
Rhodes returned to Norman for a visit on March 30, his first time since Murray left and was replaced by Deland McCullough. His grandfather played at Texas during the 1980s.
The soon to be junior is ranked as the No. 28 overall player and No. 1 running back in the country by 247Sports. They also rank him as the No. 2 player from Texas in the 2028 cycle.
