LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – The Lubbock Police Department says one person is in custody after a chase on Wednesday afternoon.

LPD said 22-year-old Charles Sykes was speeding near the 2000 block of W. Loop 289 when a motorcycle officer attempted to pull him over.

Sykes refused and led officers on a chase. He then crashed the car he was driving while trying to turn into a parking lot near 4th Street and Bangor Avenue.

The two officers attempting to pull him over crashed as well but pursued Sykes on foot into an apartment complex in the area. The officers were able to arrest Sykes on multiple warrants and charged him with evading arrest.

LPD said the cops only had minor injuries and are okay. LPD said an investigation is underway.
