Aledo routs Fossil Ridge to keep pace in 5-5A

Lucas Nawrocki tossed 5 innings of 2-hit ball as Aledo rocked Keller Fossil Ridge 11-1 in a run-rule shortened District 5-5A game on Tuesday at Fossil Ridge High School.

Aledo (20-2 overall, 5-0 district) remains in a first-place tie with Granbury (13-7-2, 5-0) for the district lead. Nawrocki allowed an unearned run and struck out 12 while walking 2.

The Bearcats pounded out 11 hits with Luke Gladchuk, Dylan Duran, Reid Huffman and Kyle Poindexter collecting 2 each. Poindexter doubled and drove in 3 runs for Aledo.

Fossil Ridge fell to 2-14-2 overall and 1-6 in district play.

Keller stays on top of 4-6A with win over Byron Nelson

Cole Koeninger went 3 for 4 with a homer as Keller rolled past Trophy Club Byron Nelson 9-1 in a District 4-6A contest on Tuesday at Keller High School.

Koeninger led off the bottom of the first inning for Keller (23-1-2 overall, 9-0 district) by lining a ball over the left field wall to start a 4-run uprising. Logan Brown and Jayden Moeller both doubled and drove in runs in the first.

Maximus Segura had 3 hits in 4 at bats, driving in 3 runs while Brock Burkett doubled twice and scored 3 runs for the Indians. Brown tossed 6 innings scattering 2 hits, allowing 1 earned run while striking out 7 and walking 3.

Lane Furr and Kenson Buth had the only 2 hits for Byron Nelson (18-4-1, 4-3) with Buth driving in Furr with a double in the third inning.

Mansfield upends Mansfield Legacy

Nick Ruiz drove in 3 runs to lead Mansfield to a 9-4 win over Mansfield Legacy in a District 3-6A contest on Tuesday night at Mansfield High School.

Mansfield improved to 8-12-1 overall and 4-3 in district while Legacy dropped to 18-6 and 5-2.

After Legacy took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning, Mansfield answered with 4 runs in the bottom of the second highlighted by Ruiz’s 3-run triple to center field. The Tigers tacked on 4 more runs in the fourth with rbi singles from Karson Beck and Travis Sample that pushed the lead to 8-2.

Ethan Weaver homered for Legacy in the fifth.

Birdville downs rival Richland

Matthew Moore allowed 1 earned run while scattering 2 hits across 5 innings to lead North Richland Hills Birdville past North Richland Hills Richland 3-2 in a District 6-5A showdown on Tuesday night at Richland High School.

Birdville moved to 14-7-2 overall and stayed perfect in district with a 5-0 record. and moved to 14-7-2 overall. The Royals dropped to 7-15-1 and 2-5 in league play.

Birdville scored 2 runs in the top of the first inning as Moore helped himself out with a 2-run double to right field. Richland tied it in the fifth as Chris Brown delivered an rbi single and Alex Zenteno scored on a passed ball.

The Hawks grabbed the lead in the top of the sixth inning on a double to right from Jake Subjeck. Connor Malvik and Carsen Blake pitched out of the bullpen for Birdville and combined to allow 1 hit with 3 strikeouts in 2 innings.

Alvarado rebounds with win over Godley

After getting blown out by Godley in the series opener, Alvarado bounced back to pick up a 7-4 win over the Wildcats in District 12-4A game on Tuesday night at Godley High School.

Alvarado (15-5-1 overall, 6-2 district) lost to the Wildcats 16-2 on Friday. The Indians erased an early 3-0 deficit with 3 runs in the second and 4 in the fourth.

Alvarado tied the game at 3-3 in the top of the second inning with rbis from Lee Sanders, Colton Burnett and Brady Stevens. Godley (15-5, 4-2) went back in front 4-3 with a single from Gio Molina that drove in a run.

Aiden Guel’s 2-run single sparked Alvarado’s big fourth inning as the Indians grabbed a 7-4 lead. Alvarado loaded the bases before Guel’s hit and then added 2 runs on 2 errors by the Wildcats.
