Robstown Police Chief Mike Tamez said a 17-year-old is the fourth and final suspect arrested in the November killing of a 14-year-old in Robstown.
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — All four suspects are now in custody and indicted in the November shooting of a 14-year-old in Robstown, Police Chief Mike Tamez announced Wednesday.
17-year-old Gauge Lopez was arrested April 1, marking what Tamez called the final step in a months-long investigation into the death of Shawn Sanchez.
“Today, our Criminal Investigations Division detectives culminated the investigation with the arrest of our last suspect,” Tamez said.
The Nueces County Sheriff’s Office confirmed Lopez is being held on charges of capital murder, robbery and assault.
According to Tamez, four suspects have now been indicted for capital murder: 23-year-old Dominic Guzman, 19-year-old Elias Rivera, 17-year-old Gauge Lopez and one juvenile.
The case stems from the November 2025 shooting death of Sanchez outside the Figueroa Square Apartments. Police have previously said the killing was a retaliatory act tied to an earlier violent confrontation involving teenagers.
Tamez described the investigation as “long and very tedious and detailed,” saying detectives worked for months to build probable cause alongside the Nueces County District Attorney’s Office.
“Please know that our detectives have worked tirelessly to establish the necessary probable cause,” he said.
Tamez also credited multiple agencies for their role in the case, including the U.S. Marshals Service, which assisted in Lopez’s arrest.
“Hopefully, working side-by-side with our Nueces County District Attorney’s Office, we will be able to receive justice for the Sanchez family,” Tamez said.
He closed the announcement with a message to the community.
“I hope you rest a little easier– knowing that we have our fourth capital murder suspect in custody,” Tamez said.
