Severe weather is in the mix for North Texas over Easter weekend.

Conditions will be warm and breezy before then on Thursday, April 2, according to the National Weather Service Fort Worth. Daily highs will be in the mid-80s with overnight lows in the upper 60s.

Widespread showers and storms return to the forecast on Friday, April 3.

Isolated storms are expected to develop Friday around midday and the first round of thunderstorms will arrive after 5 p.m., NWS warning coordination meteorologist Jennifer Dunn said. Another round of thunderstorms will arrive a few hours later that evening.

Large hail and damaging winds will be the main threats with Friday’s activity. Heavy rain will also be a factor, which could lead to flooding in some areas late Friday through early Saturday, April 4.

Storms will shift into Central Texas by midday Saturday. Total rain amounts through the weekend for much of North Texas will likely be 1 to 2 inches, with isolated pockets seeing 3 to 3.5 inches.

After a stormy Friday and Saturday, conditions will be clear on Easter Sunday, April 5.

Temperatures will be right around 70 degrees with sunny skies overhead. Sunday’s weather will be an example of what to expect next week.

Daily highs will be in the low to mid-70s on Monday, April 6, and through Wednesday, April 8. Clear and sunny skies are also excepted with no rain in the forecast.
