SAN ANTONIO — A security incident was averted at Warren High School Monday morning when a juvenile, not enrolled at the school, walked through the campus doors with weapons in a backpack.

The incident happened around 11 a.m. at Warren High School off Military Drive West near Hunt Lane.

School officials said she entered the campus doors saying she planned to register at the school. Staff members quickly responded and notified administrators. When the juvenile attempted to leave the building, campus officials and North Side Independent School District Police intervened.

A search revealed she was in possession of three weapons, and was immediately taken into police custody.

Officials confirmed there is no ongoing threat to students or staff.

In a statement, school administrators praised staff for their swift action, noting that security protocols worked effectively. “The safety and security of every student and staff member is, and will always remain, our highest priority,” the statement said. “We train for these situations, and today, those protocols worked effectively. We thank you for your continued support of our school and our security efforts.”

The investigation is ongoing.
