EL PASO, TEXAS (KFOX14/CBS4) — A semi-truck crash in East El Paso has caused a large power outage, leaving over 2,000 customers without power on Thursday evening.

According to the El Paso Police Department, an 18-wheeler was involved in a collision at 11751 Gateway West, causing a power outage.

While EPPD said information is limited, the El Paso Fire Department said the call came in at 7:50 p.m., and there were no transports to local hospitals.

According to El Paso Electric’s outage map, 2,140 customers are without electricity due to the crash.

EP Electric expects to restore power at around 10:30 p.m.

In a statement emailed to KFOX14/CBS4, El Paso Electric confirmed the semi-truck struck a transmission pole, and crews are now making repairs, with power to be restored soon.

“A semi-truck struck one of our transmission poles near Gateway West and Lee Trevino. Crews are currently on-site making repairs, and we estimate power to be restored within 45 minutes to one hour. Repair crews will continue working through the night to replace the damaged pole,” El Paso Electric said.
