This week’s food events in Fort Worth include two taco festivals (on the same day, at that), a Romanian food festival, and an opportunity for first responders to receive a free three-course lunch. National First Responders Day at B&B Butchers
Berg Hospitality steakhouse will show appreciation to on-duty Fort Worth area first responders with its annual complimentary three-course lunch. The menu includes choice of soup or salad, choice of entrée, and New York cheesecake for dessert. Guests of on-duty first responders may partake in the menu for $25 plus tax and gratuity. The deal is good from 11 am–4 pm.

Under the Moon at Toro Toro
Three-course dinner inspired by Dia de los Muertos will include lobster pozole, prime beef tenderloin with lobster miso butter, and pumpkin brulee. The $150 ticket price plus tax and gratuity also includes a six-drink omakase pairing spotlighting mezcal, cacao, clarified milk punch, and more, along with ballet folklorico, live catrinas, live fire demo, chef Q&A with Richard Sandoval, the man behind the global Sandoval Hospitality Group (of which Toro Toro is a member). The night starts at 5 pm with a cocktail reception and appetizers before a 7 pm start to dinner. Toro Toro is also offering a Dia de los Muertos a la carte menu through November 3.
Dia de los Muertos Wine Dinner at Don Artemio
Chef, author, and restaurateur Ricardo Muñoz Zurita, who’s been hailed by Time magazine as an authority on Mexican cuisine, will visit Don Artemio for a five-course dinner themed after the Mexican tradition of Dia de los Muertos. The menu features duck with mole negro, chicken with sesame seed sauce, and three tamales, including a sweet version for dessert. All courses are paired with Casa Magoni wines from Mexico. The dinner is $185 plus tax and gratuity, and begins at 6:30 pm.

Romanian Food Festival DFW
Three-day festival taking place in Colleyville at Saint Mary’s Romanian Orthodox Church showcases the cuisine and culture of Romania through dishes prepared by parishioner families, folk dances, and Romanian singers. A la carte dishes range from meatball soup ($10) to the moldova plate ($26) with Romanian sausage, cabbage rolls, and polenta with feta and sour cream. The entry fee is $5 and the festival will run Friday from 5:30–10 pm, Saturday 10 am–10 pm, and Sunday 11 am–6 pm.

Rancho Grande Fiesta at Martin House Brewing
Brewery will celebrate the launch of their new Mexican-Style Lager, Rancho Grande (4.2%) with Rancho Grande flowing all day, live music, craft vendors, and a car giveaway contest featuring a 2016 Ford Fiesta with a custom rooster paint job by Random Direction. Oh Balls! Food Truck will be onsite. Tickets are $20 for a souvenir pint glass + four pours of beer. Kids and non-drinkers are free. Tickets will be sold 12-5 pm during the party. The taproom closes at 10 pm. Pro tip: Park at 120 S. Sylvania Ave.
Texas Taco Festival at Texas Live!
More than 60 North Texas taco vendors will be on-site for this annual taco festival that boasts a slew of activities, including Lucha Libre wrestling, mechanical bull riding, hot pepper and taco eating contests, margarita and tequila bars, DJ music, axe throwing, and kids zone with face painting, pinatas, bounce houses, and more. Tickets start at $20 (when purchasing four, plus tax and fees) and the event will run from 2–10 pm.
Cowtown Taco Throwdown at River Ranch Stockyards
Fourth annual taco competition will feature 20 chef teams vying for “top taco” in categories including traditional, non-traditional, and fan-favorite. Tickets start at $58 (including fees) and come with three tasting tickets, rice, beans, a loaded salsa bar, and one voting ticket. Go VIP for $100 for access to a hosted bar and tequila tasting. There’ll also be vendors and live country music. The event will run from 5–9 pm.
