With heavy rain forecast, Dallas-Fort Worth could be 75% of the way to its monthly average rainfall total less than a week into April.
Thursday morning, 0.56 inches of precipitation fell at DFW International Airport, with totals closer to an inch in some parts of southern Dallas County. That water, combined with the downpour forecast Saturday, could create some flooding concerns, according to the National Weather Service’s Fort Worth office.
Mostly cloudy skies are expected Friday afternoon, with gusty winds up to 30 miles per hour possible before storms arrive. Rain chances should surpass 70% by 7 p.m. and are not forecast to drop off until 1 p.m. Saturday.
Dallas, Tarrant, Denton and Collin counties are all expected to get between 1.5 and 2 inches during the storm, potentially reaching 3 inches of rainfall in the first week of the month. The 30-year average of monthly April rainfall is 3.22 inches
