WASHINGTON (7News) — A day after NASA’s Artemis II successfully launched, 7News spoke with NASA’s Human Research Program’s Chief Scientist Steven Platts about what astronauts are experiencing in space.

According to Platts, during the first few days as astronauts leave the earth’s gravity, body fluid starts to move upward into the chest and head. This leaves them feeling congested. This also affects their ability to taste food, so scientist fly five different types of hot sauces for them to put on their food so they can taste it.
