As of Friday, the NWS warned of a marginal risk of severe weather and excessive rainfall from Galveston to College Station on Saturday.

“In terms of total precipitation, we’re looking up to 1 to 1.5 inches of rain,” said Janice Maldonado, a meteorologist at the Houston/Galveston NWS office. “Some areas may get less, but the highest that we have right now is up to 1.5.”

Isolated storms may persist south of I-10 into Sunday, according to the NWS.

Maldonado said the front is also expected to keep temperatures cooler in the region into next week.

“For Sunday, temperatures will be in the upper 60s to low 70s because we still may have some isolated showers,” Maldonado said. “Then Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday at least, we will have temperatures in the 70s.”

Maldonado said next week’s weather will be a return to near seasonal temperatures after experiencing some higher-than-average temperatures in late March.
