Crash completely shuts down major TX highway near Austin

Austin-area drivers hoping to take the toll roads to escape the traffic clog of I-35 are in for a rude awakening on Friday afternoon, April 3.

TxDOT has confirmed that all northbound lanes of SH 130 Toll at U.S. Highway 183 are closed due to a crash that occurred at 2:34 p.m. Drivers are being told to expect delays and consider seeking alternate routes.

TxDOT’s map does not include traffic cameras in the area, but it does show that the crash occurred just north of Mustang Ridge. The Mustang Ridge Police Department sent their own alert just after 2:30 p.m. Friday, warning residents of a “major crash” at the “130 flyover above 183,” urging them to avoid the area.

The severity of the crash is not clear at this time, and it is now clear how long drivers can expect delays.

Traffic site SigAlert suggests drivers use Turnersville Road South as an alternative route to avoid the highway.
