A 34-year-old man is in custody after leading Texas Department of Public Safety troopers on a brief pursuit that ended in a crash on San Antonio’s West Side Friday afternoon.

A trooper attempted to stop a black BMW around 2:15 p.m. on Zarzamora Street, according to DPS. The driver refused to pull over and sped off, striking another vehicle during the attempted getaway.

Authorities said the driver continued to evade troopers until another DPS unit deployed spike strips. The BMW then lost control and struck a curb at the intersection of Northwest 18th Street and Culebra Road, ending the pursuit.

The driver, identified only as a 34-year-old man, was taken into custody without incident. He is expected to face charges including failure to stop and render aid, fraud and evading arrest with a vehicle.

Two men in the other vehicle were not injured, DPS said.

No additional information has been released.
