No. 2 Texas evened the series with the University of South Carolina baseball team in a 5-3 win on Friday night (April 3) at Founders Park.The Longhorns plated a run in the first on a solo home run from Carson Tinney and added a pair in the second with some small ball. Texas’ Luke Harrison retired the first 12 batters, but allowed a walk to Talmadge LeCroy to open the fifth. Two batters later, Luke Yuhasz homered to left to cut the Longhorn lead to 3-2.The game stayed at 3-2 thanks in part to Brandon Stone, who pitched seven innings of relief and struck out six. The Longhorns went up 5-2 with a pair of solo home runs in the ninth. Will Craddock got a run back with his seventh home run of the year, but Sam Cozart struck out the side to pick up the save.Craddock had two of Carolina’s four hits on the night, both for extra bases.POSTGAME NOTES The seven innings and six strikeouts were season highs for Stone. Talmadge LeCroy extended his reached base streak to eight games.
