One dead, another hospitalized in overnight house fire, officials say

Wautauga officials said the fire happened at 11:11 p.m. Friday on Mackneal Trail.

WATAUGA, Texas — One person died and another was recovering at the hospital after an overnight house fire in the 6100 block of Mackneal Trail, according to the City of Watauga.

Officials said fire crews from Watauga, Haltom City and North Richland Hills made it to the scene at 11:11 p.m. Friday and saw a large fire from inside the home. Crews immediately went into the house to put the fire out and search for any people who may be inside. 

Officials said they found one person inside a bedroom, who was pronounced dead at the scene. Crews were also able to locate a second person who was treated and taken to Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth. 

The investigation into the fire is being led by the Tarrant County Fire Marshal’s Office. 

The identity of the victim will be released by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office pending next of kin notification.
