A house fire that broke out in Watauga overnight left one person dead and another in the hospital, the Watauga Fire Department said.
Crews responded to a home along Mackneal Trail near Jackie Terrace shortly after 11 p.m. Friday night. The department said they were told at the scene that someone was possibly inside.
Minutes later, the department said crews got inside the house and battled the blaze, while also searching. They found one person in a bedroom. That victim, who has not been identified as of publication, was declared dead at the scene.
A second victim, who was found by medics, was taken to Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth for treatment, according to the department.
The fire is now under investigation by both Watauga’s Fire Marshal’s Office and the Tarrant County Fire Marshal’s Office. In addition to the Watauga Fire Department, crews from North Richland Hills and Haltom City responded.
