COLUMBIA – No. 2 Texas scored a pair of runs in the first on its way to a 4-1 win over the University of South Carolina baseball team on Saturday afternoon (April 4) at Founders Park.

The Longhorns scored a pair of runs on Anthony Pack Jr.’s double to left field, scoring Carson Tinney and Aiden Robbins. Pack had three of Texas’ six hits on the day. The Longhorns scored an unearned run in the fifth and used a Tinney home run in the ninth for their four runs.

Talmadge LeCroy hit his seventh home run of the season in the bottom of the fifth. Carolina had just two hits on the day, the LeCroy home run and a Luke Yuhasz single.

Carolina’s pitching struck out 15 Longhorns on the day. Amp Phillips took the loss, but only allowed one earned run in 4.2 innings, giving up two hits with four walks and eight strikeouts. Logan Prisco had two strikeouts in an inning and Cooper Parks struck out five in 2.2 innings.

POSTGAME NOTES

Will Craddock reached base six times and had a pair of extra-base hits in the Texas series.
Talmadge LeCroy extended his reached base streak to nine games.
The Gamecocks struck out 33 batters in 27 innings this weekend.
