Have you ever wanted to eat barbecue chicken provided by a future NFL Hall of Famer? Well, maybe not that specific, but there’s surely plenty of hungry Texans down to give it a try.

Kafi BBQ, right in the middle of Dallas and Fort Worth, has the unique distinction of serving chickens provided from Greener Pastures, the celebrated chicken farm owned by two-time Super Bowl champion Von Miller. Located in Elgin, outside of Austin, Greener Pastures has been operating since 2018 and has been praised for organically raising chickens in stress-free environments.

Kafi BBQ opened in Irving in December 2024 as the creation of Salahodeen Abdul-Kafi, who sought to combine love for Texas barbecue with halal options to better serve the Muslim community. Now, Abdul-Kafi has partnered with Miller and Greener Pastures to supply Kafi BBQ’s $25 pasture-raised organic chicken; he’s even gone to social media to highlight the chickens from Miller’s farm.

“Von Miller studied chicken farming at A&M. So he opened his own chicken farm in Austin. That’s where the chicken’s from,” Abdul-Kafi said in a recent TikTok. “That’s pasture raised, organically fed, regeneratively farmed chicken. So what they do is they put the chickens in a mobile coop, and that coop is on wheels and they just move the coop every two days, so they’re like grazing on new grass all the time, and then they fertilize the grass and they just move it around.”

Miller, who grew up in the DFW and graduated from DeSoto High School, became a household name playing college football for the Texas A&M Aggies. He went on to be drafted No. 2 overall by the Denver Broncos in 2011, playing at Mile High until 2021 and winning Super Bowl 50, earning Super Bowl MVP honors. Miller has also played with the Los Angeles Rams (winning Super Bowl LVI), the Buffalo Bills and most recently with the Washington Commanders. As of Friday, April 3, he remains an unsigned free agent in the NFL.

One of the most decorated players in NFL history, Miller has also not been shy about his Texas roots or his chicken farming. Now Texans know where they can get a bird from a man with over 130 sacks to his name.

“What separates our birds from other birds is the living conditions, and you can really taste the type of lifestyle that they live,” Miller said in a TikTok from Kafi BBQ. “Greener pastures, they have access to grass, sunlight, oxygen, bugs, they have a natural life and I think you can taste the type of lifestyle that they live. You guys here at Kafi, y’all take it a whole nother level. I think you need both elements. You need great lifestyle, great bird and you got to be able to cook it and prepare it well.”
