LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – After a frustrating series, the Texas Tech Red Raiders (18-13, 5-7 Big 12) end the weekend with a 11-2 win over the Houston Cougars- largely because of an explosive sixth and seventh inning where ten combined runs were scored.
While going into the sixth, the Red Raiders were down 2-1 until Kyeler Thompson, Caden Ferraro, and Connor Shouse all scored as batters were walked in with bases were loaded. With a 4-2 lead in the seventh, Coleman gave Tech a 5-2 lead when his single brought home Linkin Garcia. In the same inning, Garcia also added in two RBIs of his own- as did Connor Shouse. It’s also worth noting that all ten runs in the sixth and seventh inning came while Tech was facing two outs.
Jackson Burns (2-2) snags the Red Raider victory. In six innings on the mound, he struck out six Houston batters and only gave up four hits and two earned runs.
Up next for the Red Raiders is a Tuesday afternoon road trip to Albuquerque, N.M., where they will face the New Mexico Lobos. First pitch scheduled for 3 p.m. CT.
