AUSTIN, Texas— It’s HAAM Music Monday, powered by FVF Law, and today we’re exploring the pages of a new book desgined to help you get the most our of the ‘Live Music Capital of the World!’
Austin’s vibrant music scene is now immortalized in print with the release of “Austin’s Music Scene: Your Guide to the City’s Most Iconic Artists & Venues.”
Mitch Baranowski from Thunderhouse Media joined Trevor Scott and Sierra Waggoner to share insights about this new book, which serves as the first field guide to the live music scene in Austin, Texas.
“We’ve had great memoirs and biographies about the legends like Willie Nelson. We’ve had history books. We’ve never had a book that tries to capture a snapshot of the scene today. So that’s what we set out to do.”
Baranowski explained the inspiration behind the book and what readers can expect to find within its pages. “What we’re doing, what makes this book really special, are three things. One, it’s the snapshot of the scene today, so it profiles artists, local legends, and rising stars across seven genres. We’re known as a country and Americana and blues and rock town, but there’s also Latin and world and hip hop and R&B and, and electronic and experimental music,” he said.
The book profiles some of Austin’s most iconic artists and venues, offering readers a comprehensive guide to the city’s live music offerings. “The other thing is that whether you’ve been here for decades or you’ve just moved here, this is going to help you discover new places and new faces. Lastly, every purchase has a purpose.”
Describing the book as a field guide, Baranowski emphasized its practical use for music lovers exploring Austin.
Additionally, the book supports the Health Alliance for Austin Musicians (HAAM), with proceeds benefiting the organization.
“We wanted to do something to help the Health Alliance for Austin Musicians. It’s their 20th anniversary year, so every purchase has a purpose. So half the proceeds are going to the ham’s great mission, to provide access to care for working musicians across Central Texas.”
For more information, readers are encouraged to explore the book and discover the vibrant music culture that makes Austin unique.
