LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Texas DPS is providing safety guidance for families planning to celebrate Halloween on Friday.
The agency advises parents taking children trick-or-treating to create a prearranged meetup location in case they get separated. Parents should also ensure kids know an adult’s phone number and how to call 911 if they get lost.
DPS recommends staying away from houses that are not well-lit and emphasizes that children should never go inside a home for candy.
The agency encourages making costumes bright and reflective so drivers can see trick-or-treaters sharing the road.
DPS reminds adults who have been drinking not to drive. The agency suggests asking a friend for a ride or using rideshare services to get home safely.
